Reverse Osmosis

Reverse osmosis, also known as hyperfiltration, is the finest filtration available today. It is the most common treatment technology used by premium bottled water companies. It is effective in eliminating or substantially reducing a very wide array of contaminants, and of all technologies used to treat drinking water in residential applications, it has the greatest range of contaminant removal. Reverse osmosis will allow the removal of particles as small as individual ions. The pores in a reverse osmosis membrane are only approximately 0.0005 micron in size (bacteria are 0.2 to 1 micron & viruses are 0.02 to 0.4 microns). See diagram below



STAGE 1 – Prefiltration

The purifying process begins with a sediment reduction

cartridge that traps dirt, mud, hairs and appearance of water .

This stage also protects the RO membrane from fouling and abrasion.

Stage 2 – Reduction of Contaminants

In this process the reduction of Toxins, Solvents, Pesticides and Chloroform

takes place to ease the work load that the membrane pre- forms in stage 3

Stage 3- Contaminant Rejection of Volatile Organic contaminants

The RO membrane  process rejects incredibly small contaminants, with the ability of

 the contaminants that would otherwise enter your body.

Stage 4- Polishing final stage

While the RO process will reject incredibly small contaminants, it must at the same time

be sufficiently permeable  to allow hydrogen and oxygen to pass through. As a

result, some gaseous and low molecular weight chemicals such as chloroform

are allow to form in the storage tank to stop bacterial growth. The polishing filter

catches any remanding contaminants.
